Prior to my current position, I worked at Central Square Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While there, I served as a multimedia creator, which included designing imagery and branding for shows and programs. At Central Square Theater, we staged an event in partnership with a local dance studio create a day of performances and to gather the stories of people in the local neighborhood. I was responsible for all the branding, collateral, and imagery for the event.
In setting out to create the identity, my goal was to focus primarily on story telling, but also evoke the concept of the passage of time, phases of life, childhood, and memory. The different elements of the branding and visual identity were created through illustration and collage using photographs of performers who would be at the event, thus highlighting them.
2026 Gala Branding & Materials
I was responsible for designing the visual identity for our 2026 Gala. I highlighted interconnectedness and a sleek, fresh feeling to correspond with the introduction of our new CEO to our community. The materials included 3 email blasts, 30 discrete 8.5x11 signs, an additional 4 24x36 foam core signs, a photo strip, 2 slideshows each with about 100 slides, and 4 social media posts. At right and below are some examples of those materials.
Email blast: when writing email blasts, I focus on a central image, a short message, and a call to action.
Photo strip: for several events, I have made custom photo strips featuring a simple design
Silent auction signs: I created a special logo for these signs and a layout that included a heading, description, photo, and supplemental information
LinkedIn posts (below left): These highlights for the event host and two awardees showcase my ability to create variation across a single design.
Central logo slide (below right): The logo slide showcases the basic elements of the visual language: circles, white space, and interconnectedness.
Volunteer Appreciation Month Branding
For volunteer appreciation month, I designed an identity for social media posts, email communications, and event materials. Volunteer appreciation month highlights volunteers of all different types, and in my current role, my organization works with a variety of volunteers of different ages. I played to the strengths of my organizations work by highlighting outstanding volunteers, and illustrating the number of ways to get involved. At right and below are some examples of materials I created.
Email blast: This email blast features a concise opening visual and a highlight for senior volunteer.
Photo strip: The photo strip features an alternate script font I occasionally make use of to create visual interest.
Volunteer spotlight social media post (right): This post highlights Daisy and Margurie, to volunteers over 90 who were identified and interviewed by me.
Volunteer opportunities social media post (below): This post features strong photography from myself and visual variation.
YourTown Poster, Logo and Branding
At right was the central poster which we used on our social media and distributed around the area where the event was. The goal was to create a piece with an epic feeling that incorporated theater, storytelling, and dance, and that incorporated a homey feeling and the themes of time, birth, life and death.
Below and to the left is the set of logos I created. These were more lighthearted to contrast the poster, and addressed the idea of childhood and its relationship to memory
Below and to the right is signage that was created for the event - these were put up around the site of the event to show folks they were in the right place and direct traffic.
At the bottom are two signs created for story booths, which were a component of the event programming. In addition to a day of dance and theater performances, the theater wanted to gather stories from community members about their past and important milestones in their lives. The story booth signs had to emphasize the power of voice while also being welcoming and clear.
